Interview with Cody
“I’ve found a great fit within a team of likeminded and enthusiastic professionals.”
Can you tell us what your job function is?
I’m the Director of Sales for APAC, which revolves around both direct and distribution sales channels of Parking Guidance Systems and FLINQ. The role is a client facing one, an aspect I enjoy, being able to build relationships with our clients to better understand and solicit requirements and problems we then seek to solve.
How long have you been working here?
3 Years. Before this I worked in the energy sector (O&G + Renewable) in Singapore and before that, Dubai, however I was attracted to join a progressive and innovative company in the tech space, more aligned to my interests and values.
Why so long?
I’ve found a great fit within a team of likeminded and enthusiastic professionals. A real plus for me, working out of the Australia branch is that I get to work with a relatively small team day to day (~20) which enables us to be agile and respond quickly to market & client requirements, but also have the support and leverage of a global corporate network.
What characterizes your colleagues?
The majority of my colleagues are long tenured, far outstretching my 3 years, which I always see as a positive sign that we can attract and retain top talent. Whilst the team is diverse, both from a background and skillset perspective, they come together and complement each other nicely – a well-oiled machine.
Outside of work?
Outside of work you will find me following my various sporting teams or playing golf (which can be both a blessing and a curse!).
Interview with Grant
“No one takes themselves too seriously and are always willing to help when help is needed.”
Interview with Grant. Can you tell us what your job function is?
I’m the Service Delivery Manager for APAC branch, I have a team of 4 x amazing Service Coordinators and 1 x Intern. My role is to ensure the team delivers valuable services that delight our customers whilst supporting/maintaining their systems at their optimum performance levels. To put this into layman’s terms, most of our time is spent on managing break/fixes across our client sites and most importantly, managing client engagement/relationships.
How long have you been working here?
I have been with TKH Security for almost 8 years now…Wow, I feel really old answering that question 😊. My first 7 years, I was working in the Projects team as a Project Manager. So being able to transfer that site knowledge and technical ability to the Service team has not only helped me transition to this new role but has also helped my team gain better knowledge on some of the more technical issues we see on a day-to-day basis.
Why so long?
No one else will hire me!! HAHA Just jokes!
The easiest answer I can give you is culture. Our branch is made up of (~20) well rounded individuals that understand the important concept of working together and keeping you grounded.
What characterizes your colleagues?
Oh boy, I could really have some fun with this question… I will, however, keep it professional – Just this once!! A word that comes to mind is fun, as stressful as all our jobs can be sometimes, you will regularly hear laughter and positive conversations happening throughout the office. No one takes themselves too seriously and are always willing to help when help is needed. One of the great things we do at the end of each month is head out of the office on a Friday for an hour or two to catch up, play some table tennis, basketball or whatever it is that we’re doing for that week. This brings the team together and adds a level of competition, especially in basketball.
Outside of work?
I have a wife and 2 x dragons; my eldest dragon is Izzy (10yrs) old, and my other is Ollie (8yrs) old who has red hair and a mullet. If you don’t know what a mullet is, go and check it out and don’t judge me. When I’m not fixing PGS systems, you’ll find me at my kids sporting events, I’m the manager of Ollie’s Rugby League team. Finally, I live in the Blue Mountains, so I do a lot of mountain bike riding whenever I have some free time, which feels like never.
Interview with Pablo
“I found in TKH Security what I was looking for: a great opportunity to challenging myself professionally.”
Can you tell us what your job function is?
I’m currently working in the Projects department as a Project Engineer/Coordinator. I’m responsible for the coordination of the projects we sell. This means that once we sell the project, I take care of the follow up and support of it, from the first to the last stage. This involves the shipping of material, installation, and commissioning, as well as training for each of these steps. I also visit projects when required for the final system commissioning.
How long have you been working here?
For almost 8 years at TKH Security, 4 of which have been spent in the Projects department. Previously, I was in the Support team department, and I also worked as a Product Manager. Since day one, I’ve been commissioning engineer tasks.
Why so long?
Time flies, right? If you have asked me back in the day, I probably wouldn’t have thought I would have stayed somewhere for so long. When you’re young you’re trying to find yourself. But I found in TKH Security what I was looking for: a great opportunity to challenge myself professionally. I’ve had the chance to work in 4 different departments, learning from all of them. I’ve travelled throughout the world working on projects, giving me access to new cultures, ways of working, people and experiences. I’ve never stopped growing.
What characterizes your colleagues?
As you can imagine, for 8 years I have had the chance to meet and work with many great people, learning from each one of them. Furthermore, since I joined TKH Security, the company has grown and I am now working with more colleagues from other branches (NL, US, MENA, etc). The more I work with different people, the more I learn from them.
Sounds good. Do you want to add anything else?
Since the merger with TKH Security, the opportunities have increased, and a wider variety of fields have come into play. I’m excited about the opportunities that will arise in the future.
Interview with Fidel
“TKH Security is a company that adapts to every employee, which is key in a professional environment.”
Tell us Fidel, what brings you to TKH Security?
Learning new cutting-edge technologies has been always a priority for me. When I considered a change in my professional experience, I discovered TKH Security: new challenges related to parking guidance sounded exciting for me.
After reviewing the portfolio of the company, I discovered that I share more with the company than I imagined: We have the same values and vision.
After this (almost) 1 year, I can confirm that this change has been what I needed.
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
The work to be done in the R&D department is organized continuously by using agile methodologies. The team is totally autonomous, so we can organize the work in the best way depending on the available resources. The day starts with coding, designing or meeting with some colleagues. It really depends on the current task under development. A daily meeting takes place at about 11am to coordinate and solve problems that could appear during the day.
My role is oriented around development, so most of the time I am focused on writing code, designing solutions, debugging and integrating new functionalities.
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
There are multiple reasons why a new employee could enjoy working in this company (as I am doing!), but for me the main reason is: TKH Security provides enough space for you to grow. You can decide the way you work, so you can organize yourself in the best way, while your manager helps you to reach your objectives.
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
TKH Security is a company that adapts to every employee, which is key in a professional environment. During your first week of work in TKH Security you will feel as if you’ve been here for several years!
Which characteristics are worth gold in this organization?
- Space for growth and self-development.
- Nice colleagues (from all over the world), and a friendly work environment.
- Innovative technology.
- New challenges every day!
- Flexibility.
- Everyone helps each other. If you need something, there is always someone ready to help you!
- Communication with other layers of the company is easy and possible. There are no obstacles.
- Your opinion is always heard and taken into consideration.
Interview with Bert
“There is time, space and money to experiment with new initiatives.”
How did you end up here?
“Almost a year ago I was consciously unemployed for a while. The reason for this was that I wanted to take the necessary time to find a company in which I can learn instead of only transfer my knowledge.”
In addition, I wanted to work with advanced modern techniques to build cool stuff. As you might know there is a large hunt on developers and also on me. Out of every opportunity I have been given, TKH Security was the winner. This had to do with the career perspective. The company is always evolving, and it is very much appreciated that employees are too. There is a large budget available for training and a willingness to learn new things. That counts for the whole company as for the people who work there. I am very happy with my choice.
Why?
I learned a lot of new things this year and because of the merger the source of knowledge has grown bigger and bigger. My expectations came true.
“What I greatly appreciate is that there is time, space and money to experiment with new initiatives. This counts for both personal and technical initiatives.”
Can you give an example?
Yes. I have a past with SCRUM and I wanted to do something with this. This ‘something’ means nowadays that I coach the complete R&D team in Zoetermeer in this. And what do you know; more time, space and money for a personal initiative.
How many colleagues do you have in your department?
That is a hard question, because my team is working from different locations. The size of the team is eight people, and the department consists of thirty people. There is a lot of work that is done remotely, because we are working with a lot of nationalities. For example, we have Polish colleagues that are team members. To keep the connection strong we work with Microsoft Teams, we do daily video standups, and we meet online.
“The diversity makes it fun. We have Ukrainians, Poland, Indians, French… All those different flavors make beautiful dishes! We make a nice bunch of nerds together! [laughs]”
Do you organize hackathons?
Yes, we do this every month. We then can create something we invented ourselves. This gives us creative freedom what leads to new insights and solutions. Because of this we solve bugs, create reporting tools and features that are integrated as part of the releases. And this is during regular working hours. So, no late nights and pizza, but you can go home to your family for a nice dish.
Interview with Maurice
“Anyone who sparkles will feel right at home here.”
Please tell us in a non-commercial way why you like to work for TKH Security?
[laughs] Because we are at the start of expansion.
Please explain…
We recently combined specialized disciplines and because of this we can create concepts that were not there yet and are in great need. At the moment we are developing in the Netherlands our new generation software platform. This platform enables us to scale up through our entities in neighboring countries. The growth potential is a huge chance for our partners. They can expand because the organization is getting bigger, and projects are getting more comprehensive.
“We now have such valuable knowledge about communications and security, that employees not only transfer knowledge and skills, but also absorb them”
What do other people notice of what you do?
Almost everyone has something to do with what we do. When you are driving, for example, in a tunnel or parking garage, you are registered on the systems in which our technology is used. Huge data flows are brought together centrally so our customers can anticipate effectively on events. In this way we contribute to the safety of others.
Can you describe TKH Security in three words?
Innovative
Effective
Driven
What do you like about growth?
What I like about growth is that together with the customer, we are increasingly looking for the best solutions in challenges that are getting more complex for end users. We’re creating long-lasting relationships by focusing on trust and involvement. In this way we can grow together with our customers. In the meantime, we have gathered a lot of developing power, knowledge and skills, so this is the moment we can scale up and that is exactly what we are doing right now. Growth brings a very special dynamic.
Last but not least, what do you want to tell the possible applicants?
You are at the start of something beautiful.
“It’s a vibrant organization and you’ll notice this as soon as you’re here. Anyone who sparkles will feel right at home.”
Interview with Jeroen
“On a typical day, I usually start by grabbing a coffee, setting the mood with music and beginning to build whatever is planned for that day.”
Tell us Jeroen, what brings you to TKH Security?
I was looking for a place where I could start my career in IT. At TKH Security I saw that there were several different routes to take in many different directions. Whilst I love to challenge myself with learning something new every day, I get a lot of satisfaction from learning from the people here that are masters in their respective fields
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
I currently hold the joint function of Product Owner – Hardware and Logistical.
The logistical part is mostly the assembly and configuration of servers and clients which our customers use for our software products. As Product Owner of Hardware I, together with another colleague, am responsible for maintaining the quality of components we use for our hardware solutions among other things.
“On a typical day, I usually start by grabbing a coffee, setting the mood with music and beginning to build whatever is planned for that day.”
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
I believe my colleagues like to work here at TKH Security because monotony is not something that occurs very often.
“Every day can pose a new challenge and require a new solution!”
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
Passionate people that voice their opinion?
“ ✓ Check”

Which characteristics are worth gold in this organization?
If you are determined to get somewhere, TKH Security will match that same determination. And your colleagues are always willing to help you learn! And if not that, the hot sauce bit will do.
Interview with Maren
“You do not just work here, you are part of something bigger and you want to make things happen.”
Tell us Maren, what brings you to TKH Security?
In October 2020 I started working at TKH Security. The position seemed diverse, and it offered me the opportunity to grow on a professional and personal level, which sounded exactly like what I was looking for. I felt very welcome during the job interviews, which is important for me. Working at the right place makes your work itself so much more fun. There is still more to learn at TKH Security for me, so I am looking forward to my future here.
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
As I have learned so far, there is not really a typical day within my job 😊 This is also what makes it challenging and fun at the same time. Every day there are different topics on my agenda.
Next to this, I am always available for colleagues with questions, issues they want to discuss or good news they want to share. During this period of Covid-19, I work partially from home and partially at the office, which gives me the flexibility to have focus time and face to face contact with my colleagues as well.
“One day I am more focused on the development of our HR policy and the next day my agenda is filled with meetings with colleagues, job applicants or external parties.”
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
Our organization has a very open culture in which you feel welcome. We are all willing to help each other when necessary. We have many different departments, with different areas of expertise which creates room for every type of new talent looking to join our organization. Because of the different backgrounds (in education and culture) of our employees, great new ideas are always being proposed and implemented.
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
It is an organization with ambition, which can also be seen in the hard work delivered by my colleagues.
“You do not just work here, you are part of something bigger and you want to make things happen.“
Many of my colleagues have worked here for over 20 years, but our newest colleagues are welcomed as if they have been here just as long. We are our own internal and external ambassadors, which is of great value.
Which characteristics are worth gold in this organization?
I think it is important to be open minded, innovative, and flexible. As we are still growing, our organization goes through some changes from time to time. Those changes create new opportunities for our employees to grow on a professional and personal level.
“If you are open to this, TKH Security is completely the right place for you! “
Interview with Guus
“There is plenty of freedom to learn and try out!”
Tell us Guus, what brings you to TKH Security?
I was looking for a side job as a developer to combine with my studies in Software Engineering in Zoetermeer. I found TKH Security, formerly VDG.
I was able to combine this for six months and learned a lot during this period. When I had to graduate, TKH Security offered me a graduation internship and that is how I ended up here.
For my internship I needed a workplace where software concepts were worked on in an innovative way. Together with several team leaders and managers, we developed a plan to set up a cool and innovative project.
For my graduation project I researched and designed a location determination system using Bluetooth-low-energy. The main goal of this research was to discover the possibilities within narrowcasting.
Later in the process I used this knowledge to realize new functionalities in a number of existing products of TKH Security.
Because of this success, TKH Security offered me a job as a Software-Engineer after this graduation project.
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
As a team member of the Blue Bird team, we start each day with a stand-up, here we discuss our previous workday and the outstanding tasks for the day.
Then I put on my headphones and start programming, often this is accompanied by code reviews for team members or figuring out solutions with the PO (Product Owner).
“Headphones on and code!”
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
TKH Security gives you the space to choose which development team you want to work in. The space to switch afterwards is also there so you always feel free to go wherever you want. I am on the Blue-bird team from which innovative technologies and projects are constantly emerging. For example, this is the reason why I am in this team and also, I think this can be a big plus if you are considering working at TKH Security.
“There is plenty of freedom to learn and try out!”
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
TKH Security has had a very innovative mindset since its inception.
“As a Software Engineer, it is very interesting to be a part of this because the company always remains open to all kinds of new concepts and therefore other ways of working.”
Which characteristics are worth gold in this organization?
Incredibly nice colleagues with a lot of knowledge.
“✓ Check”
Room for self-development.
“✓ Check”
Hot sauce.

Interview with Marco
“We work and laugh hard!”
Tell us Marco, what are you doing here?
I am a C++ Software Developer and mainly I am working on the front end of our systems. At the moment I am involved in devising and developing the user interaction and graphical user environments (GUI) for the native video client.
What do you like about your job?
I like to convert a customer requirement into something graphic. The results are directly visible and interactive while I am working on the front-end. Very tangible and concrete. Nevertheless, I have also the possibility to work on the back-end and dive deeper into the code.
“Especially the large variety makes my work interesting.”
Why do you stay here?
We have a very close team of colleagues that are working here for quite a few years combined with new colleagues. This team consists of programmers with different expertise. One is really into code and the other works more at the surface. What binds us is that together we build one product. Good communication is necessary in this. Fortunately we all speak the same programmer, language [laughs]. Besides our product we also have a ‘Hackathon’ once every month. On this day we ignore our regular work.
“On this day we work alone or together on something each of us want, with nice features as a result.”
What characterizes your team?
On one hand, that we take each other into account. For example, we have created a silent workspace for people that like to work in silence, and we have created a workspace for people that like to listen to music while working. In this way, everyone has a nice working environment. On the other hand, the atmosphere characterizes our team.
“We work and laugh hard, especially the lame word jokes are doing well!”
Furthermore, my team members like to solve difficult riddles or puzzles. Every year we try to solve the Christmas AIVD puzzle, with the emphasis on ‘try’ [laughs].
We have also built a blooper hub in our internal system. Our variety of ‘testing’ cameras which can be found around our office building sometimes film a funny blooper. Of course, are these images only visible for internal eyes with the approval of the colleagues involved. In addition, I think our Friday afternoon drinks are golden. Especially when the weather is nice, because we are then outside playing soccer with some cold beers.
Sounds good. Do you want to add anything else?
Despite we are a close team, it is not hard for newcomers to integrate. That is why interns stay after their internship. I believe that says something about what kind of organization TKH Security is. In addition, we operate in a niche area with large data streams. Our computers can handle a lot of data; their computing power is enormous. Great to work with. We are always working on these computers to try out new encoding. Space is made available to play with it, and this ‘playing’ often leads to efficient applications and usage. Before we start, we always do some research to book results. We create many of our codes ourselves and these prove to be very successful.
“We sometimes use open source frameworks, but most of the time we rely on our own work while we are a bit stubborn [laughs].”
Interview with Erik
“You communicate with all layers and departments of TKH security, but also with our customers. There are no barriers. It’s your (technical) challenge!”
Tell us Erik, what brings you to TKH Security?
At my previous job I came into contact with products from TKH Security because I worked with them. The product line, the approach and the innovation really appealed to me even then. In addition, the cooperation with the employees of TKH Security was remarkable, especially their enthusiasm for the profession.
When it became known that TKH Security was going to set up a strategic projects department, I thought this was a great opportunity to be a part of.
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
My days mainly consist of translating the customer’s question into a technical design. In addition, the search for technical feasibility is always a fun challenge. Of course, I do not do this alone. This often happens in collaboration with my colleagues and together we still learn every day.
At the moment, for example, I am focusing more on drawing and creating designs that suit the customer. No factory work, but custom work.
“The customization in the broadest sense of the word makes my job very enjoyable.”
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
In a nutshell!
TKH Security is a professional, eager to learn company, with a personal touch and plenty of room for personal growth and ambition.
You are part of the company, and they show it. You will be involved in the developments and, they also like to hear your input.
“You communicate with all layers and departments of TKH security, but also with our customers. There are no barriers. It’s your (technical) challenge!”
In my team we work a lot on custom security solutions in combination with our own products and software developments. We do this for large and diverse clients. We are always pushing the boundaries of the endless possibilities out there but always with the most recent techniques.
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
What people need to know about TKH Security is that it is so much more than a manufacturer or supplier.
We are constantly thinking about new developments and are always working on customized solutions. These solutions are also often implemented by us in close cooperation with customers and installers.
Which characteristics are worth gold in this organization?
“TKH Security characterizes itself primarily as a professional company with a personal atmosphere. People work hard and laugh hard too. Everyone helps each other.”
Interview with Mark
“Together with colleagues, we strive to provide a good and quality security solution for every customer.”
Tell us Mark, what brings you to TKH Security?
In my previous position as project leader at an installation company, I already worked closely with TKH security. Delivering integrated and total security solutions to a wide range of customers really appeals to me. This, together with the in-house solutions and developments, makes TKH Security an interesting company for me to contribute to.
Can you walk me through a typical day in this role?
The work in my role as project manager is varied, from meetings with customers (fortunately increasingly live), meetings with colleagues and partners, setting up documents that improve the process, supervising the deliveries and services by consultants, coordinating with R&D, and monitoring the financial side of the projects.
“The overall goal is to help the customer find a good security solution.”
Why do you think other people would want to work here?
We are a security company that is constantly working on developing solutions for the future, in the business field, but you also get plenty of opportunities to develop and grow yourself.
“TKH Security looks ahead.”
What do other people need to know about TKH Security?
TKH Security is a company with possibilities and a versatile portfolio of security solutions.
