From Valet to Visionary: Jeff Sparrow Shares His Parking Journey on The Parking Podcast

With more than 30 years in the parking industry, Jeff Sparrow has seen parking evolve from a largely operational service into a technology-driven industry focused on improving the customer experience. In a recent episode of The Parking Podcast, Sparrow, Director of Sales, North America for TKH Security, joined host Isaiah Mouw to discuss his career, the origins of Park Assist, and how innovation continues to shape the future of parking.

Jeff’s path into parking wasn’t one that he planned.

“No one ever thinks about getting into parking,” he joked while reflecting on how he transitioned from a career in child support enforcement to managing valet operations at a hotel. What began as an opportunity to challenge himself quickly turned into a lifelong career as he advanced to management, meeting many of the industry professionals he still works alongside today.

Those early experiences laid the foundation of his career and ultimately led him to Park Assist. During the conversation, Jeff also shared the story behind Park Assist’s beginnings, explaining that the solution was inspired by a real customer’s challenge.

“It was founded around a very simple challenge from a customer: can you help people, my clients, find their cars while at the same time navigating to open spaces?”

Recognizing an opportunity, Park Assist was born and utilized emerging camera technology and license plate recognition to create a solution that could guide drivers to available parking spaces while also helping them quickly locate their vehicles. That original concept became the foundation for the ever-evolving, intelligent, camera-based parking guidance system the company offers today.

Jeff also discussed how Park Assist’s acquisition by TKH Security provided the resources to accelerate innovation and expand the platform’s capabilities. Today, the company’s solutions extend well beyond traditional parking garages, with technologies designed for rooftop parking level and surface lots, making parking guidance accessible across a wider variety of parking environments than ever before.

Throughout the conversation, Jeff emphasized that while the technology has evolved dramatically, the mission remains the same: helping parking garage owners create a better experience for their customers while operating more efficiently.

The episode concludes on a more personal note, with Jeff sharing a glimpse into life outside of work and the unique experience of having a wife who also works in the parking industry.

“Getting to know people like Jeff on a deeper level is exactly why I started this podcast over seven years ago. With decades of experience in the parking industry and his work with one of today's most innovative parking guidance technologies, Jeff offers a unique perspective that's well worth hearing. I'm excited to add this conversation to our growing collection of episodes”
