A Fraud- and GDPR-proof Access Control Solution for noris network AG
TKH Security has recently improved access control in all data centers of noris network AG, a premium IT service provider in Germany. TKH Security has cooperated with noris network since 2009 and, among others, supplies them with access control, video surveillance and intercom systems.
About noris network AG
noris network AG is a premium IT service provider which offers high-quality spaces, hardware, and IT infrastructure in its own high-performance data centers. noris network has seven high-security data centers at five locations in Germany, connected by a high-performance backbone. TKH Security has recently improved access control at all these data centers.
A Fraud- and GDPR-proof Access Control Solution
The data centers are now safely secured with TANlock by FATH and an integration interface to our access control system, iProtect. This makes this access control solution fraud-proof and GDPR-proof. This solution protects the cabinets in these data centers and enables the possibility to manage the access control remotely, both online and offline. Therefore, employees must no longer check this manually as this is very time consuming. The TANlocks operate via POE Ethernet for real time monitoring and power supply, because radio connections and changing batteries with thousands of rack doors you need to avoid. Besides physically closing the cabinets, there are more interesting features. This solution offers authorization to whom may access data centers, makes it audible who has accessed a cabinet, protects personal data and also enhances the continuity of business processes. The solution is entirely new and after a testing period, 500 TANlocks are now in production for noris network.
2-Factor Authentication
For this project TKH Security cooperated with FATH mechatronics, the TANlock supplier. They provided the lock and TKH Security provided the software. The TANlock is a centralized, fraud-proof locking system for data centers with a 2-factor authentication (Card & PIN), but also functionalities like 4 eye principle are available. After approving the opening of a door from the control room, the opening must be confirmed by pressing the confirm button on the lock. Consequently, that specific door can be opened. Everything can be managed online with iProtect. The monitoring and the opening of the doors is done remotely.
Strategic Partnership
Since the first project in 2009, the relationship between TKH Security and noris network has evolved into a strategic partnership. “Our requirements are still being met”, says Stefan Sturm, Senior Datacenter Engineer at noris network AG. “This would not be possible with other manufacturers, as with the TANlock. Our cooperation with TKH Security is very close, which has achieved a high level of personal relationship.”
Furthermore, noris network foresees more projects in cooperation with TKH Security in the near future. “We are striving to equip all our server racks with TANlocks. This means replacing existing offline cylinders in server racks and equipping new server racks.”
TANlock, in combination with iProtect, is now available at TKH Security.
