Park Assist, recently merged with TKH Security, has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW Medical Center) in Dallas, Texas.
About the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
UTSW is one of the premier academic medical centers in the USA. With over 15,000 employees and faculty and over 2.7 million outpatient visits per year, UT Southwestern is the largest medical school in the University of Texas System and the state of Texas.
First Parking Guidance System for the UTSW Campus
TKH Security (Park Assist) will install its proprietary camera-based M4 smart sensor system in the Clements Visitor Garage, one of 15 parking facilities on campus. This will be the first parking guidance system to be utilized on the UTSW campus. Due to the multifunctionality of the Park Assist PGS, its security and monitoring features, and TKH Security’s stellar experience with other installs in the University of Texas system, UTSW chose to implement the M4 smart sensor system. With the medical center’s high volume of patients, staff, and faculty, UTSW was eager to manage the garage’s vehicle capacity and increase control over the facility to flex parking demand as needed to ensure all patients and visitors are accommodated. In addition to the M4 technology, this installation will also include the Park Alerts™ software module and mobile application.
Elevated Parking Experience
Before arriving at the Clements Visitor Garage, guests can check parking availability through a mobile application. The Park Assist mobile application API, designed to alleviate parking frustration, displays real-time information, and is automatically updated throughout the day to provide up-to-the-second availability information. Upon arrival at the facility, Digital Wayfinding Signage and the camera-based M4 PGS will guide drivers to open parking bays. The signage directs guests to specific areas in the facility with open parking bays; the color-coded smart-sensors indicate availability down to the bay level. Using red and green lights to signal which spaces are vacant or occupied, the PGS eliminates additional stress and uncertainty from the parking journey and reduces drivers’ search and park times.
Additionally, UTSW will also implement the Park Assist Park Alerts software feature, offering parking management valuable tools to effectively monitor space utilization and enforce parking policies. Park Alerts will send notifications to management of any policy violations, providing real-time time-based or license plate-based alerts.
TKH Security is excited to be working with UTSW on its first parking guidance system project and bringing this important technology to the campus. “The M4 system will reshape parking for patients and visitors alike. It is a valuable resource for the UTSW parking community, ensuring their campus parking experience is a positive one.” Said Jeff Sparrow, Regional Account Manager.
Site work is already underway and scheduled for completion by the end of January 2021.
