Surveillance of the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge in Turkey With VDG SENSE Video Management System
The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is a bridge for rail and motor vehicle transit over the Bosphorus strait, to the north of two existing suspension bridges in Istanbul, Turkey. At 322 m (1,056 ft), it is the tallest suspension bridge in the world.
Challenge:
Because of the importance of this bridge, monitoring the new peripheral highway around the city including two tunnels is essential. The bridge consists of a two-way, four-lane motorway and two high-speed railway tracks, and is accessed by approximately 135,000 vehicles a day in each direction.
Solution:
VDG SENSE VMS
Our VMS records video and receives AID (Automatic Incident Detection) events from the FLIR ITS server.
Events like a pedestrian on the road or a car driving in the opposite direction create a macro. These events are used in the control room to show the cameras on which an incident occurs.
The operators are pro-actively informed about incidents on the highway using audio alarms and camera pop-ups.
VMS is also used for retrieving video from incidents and overviews of live cameras (fixed and PTZ).
