The Challenge

Unstable Wireless Network – FDOT’s communications in Monroe County depend entirely on wireless connectivity. Limited bandwidth and inconsistent performance made reliable remote integration and testing extremely difficult.
Operational Complexity – With network delays, every keystroke or system command became a potential point of failure, especially during subsystem and system tests.
Harsh Environmental Conditions – Surrounded by saltwater and exposed to extreme heat, humidity, dust, and tropical storms, equipment needed to endure some of the harshest conditions in the U.S.
