On August 13 2018, the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2019 was signed into U.S. Law. NDAA Section 889 prohibits the U.S. government from procuring or using video surveillance and telecommunications equipment or services from certain Chinese companies and their subsidiaries.
The NDAA ban includes the following companies:

- Zhejiang Dahua Technology Company Limited
- Huawei Technologies Company
- ZTE Corporation
